The Supreme Speed Braker of Mylapore Contest

(Karthik Narayan)

Speed breakers are called so because of the way you brake and not the literal meaning that we have come to know. It was originally speed brakers but you know these American spellings...

There are a few roads in Mylapore/ Mandavelli that bear testimony to this new finding. One is the Thiruvengadam Street that has more speed breakers than the number of sixers in a T20 match (featuring big hitters like Sehwag, Hayden). The innovative thing about these speed breakers is that the distance between two of them is less than 5-6 metres!!

The major competitors to the Supreme Speed breaker of Mylapore Title are: Luz Avenue, the lane behind Nageswara Rao Park, and Kennedy Street, near the Luz Church.

More research coming up on the physics of speed breakers.

Oh yes, I know those particular speed breakers all too well!
In New York, the "speed breakers" have the opposite shape - they come in the form of pot holes!!
