Actions speak louder than words...

(Karthik Narayan)

When a group of close-to-heart people come together, its always great fun. Fun becomes memorable and memorable moments are etched in our minds forever. But, post-invention of the camera, it is commonplace to capture those moments on film as well to see, narrate and enjoy the spoils of pulling each others' legs.

My cousins Aarti and Ashwat visited us (Lakshmi is my wife and me is me) and we all set off to that one place that everyone loves to be on any evening - the beach. My cousin Aarti, being the youngest and the NXG teen, had this new found interest in playing dumb charades. While the rest of us are post our teens and do not share the same fascination for that "been there done that" game.

But what the hell - Boys vs girls - Ashwat and me vs Aarti and Lakshmi. We had the theme of Hindi movies only.

For those not in the know. Dumb Charades is a game that is played with the following rules:

Each team decides on a movie name and informs one "Volunteer" from the opponent team. The volunteer demonstrates through body motions/ actions (without speaking) the movie name.

Needless to say, the name of the game was awesome fun and frolic as we made fun of each other, the acting was good in parts. We had some real great emotions displayed for movie names like Singhh is King, Thoda pyar thoda magic etc.

The best of the lot was perhaps Ashwat's portrayal for "Company". He broke the movie name into two - come and pani. Come was relatively easy for me to crack. For pani, he ran all the way across the sand to point to the beach. I promptly said "bhago"!!

I guess the game is an apt example for the famous proverb, "actions speak louder than words".
