(Karthik Narayan)
I normally take a while to write a movie review, but after watching Body of Lies, the first thing I wanted to do since getting out of the theater was write the review. No particular reason, it’s more like getting rid of wet clothes that may sting and make your body stink.
This is no gripping tale, the admission fee is worth seeing most parts of the Islamic world and some parts of America through google earth. Half the movie was a dedication to google earth, cell phones and the success of intelligence and secrecy over the failure of dumbass bureaucracy.
Inspite of the star cast of Leo di Caprio, Russel Crowe and some very handsome actors such as Mark Strong (Hani), Ali Suliman (Sadiki) and the beautiful Iranian actress, Golshifteh Farahani (Aisha, now how does that song go?), the movie lacks imagination and direction, including the wayward movement from extreme Amman, Jordan to Washington DC.
Leo di Caprio once again played a guy suffering from both sides of the law. Similar to the Departed, only here he suffers major physical injury and total frustration. He acts brilliantly, especially the toying between a broken heart and a few broken bones and a torn conscience working for Russel Crowe. Though I loved all scenes that Leo came in, there was one moment when he really took my heart away - his eyes pining for Aisha.
Russel Crowe was brilliant acting fat, stupid and techno savvy. Great job, buddy, dear sore loser! Crowe as a power hungry boss at the CIA?? Give me a break!!
Ridley Scott (producer and director) was very effective in giving the perfect medicine for sleep deprived and insomniacs out there. We were all confused and dozed off at least 5 times during the movie. Salut!
William Monahan (scriptwriter) stuck to his great script formula of having at least 2 words that rhyme with duck and missy in each line. An oscar awaits, I am sure.
If people rated this movie 7.7 for anything other Leo di Caprio’s acting, they must be out of their minds. Maybe it’s the panic that is setting in on the movie goers’ minds. Or maybe because Leo comes in almost all scenes of the movie
Rating: 6.5/10 (purely for Leo and nothing else, buddy). I’m outa here now…

Really ??really?? Gosh. Was it that bad? I cant believe people over hyped it :(
@ Raji - thanks :)
@ Lakshmi & Subs - with people like Ananth (Pantan) who know the time, date of the year by the movies that are releasing, what else do you expect?
In fact, Pantan did not know that Halloween is on Oct 31, instead he said it was one week before the release of Quantum of Solace!!
I missed this movie. I've heard a lot of reviews and I want to find it my self. So I watched it in HD quality @ http://www.yayvideo.net. Leo did a great job on BOL. He's acting never fades, as ever. I really think that his character here on BOL has a great similarity to Departed. There are a lot of cellphone scenes on the movie too. I'll rate BOL 7/10
